UIMI Terms of Service
Last updated: 27 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and UIMI ("we", "us") when you use UIMI. They are deliberately short and written plainly, because most of the people using UIMI are teenagers. Using UIMI means you accept them.
1. Who can use UIMI
You must be 13 or older. If you are under 18, please go through these terms and the Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian. By using UIMI while under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian is okay with you using it under these terms.
If you are under 13, you may not use UIMI, and we will delete any account we find that belongs to someone under 13.
2. What UIMI is
UIMI lets you record yourself practising a conversation and gives you AI-written feedback estimating how you likely came across.
Please understand what that means:
- The feedback is generated by an AI model. It is an estimate, not a fact, and it can be wrong, incomplete, or miss the point.
- UIMI does not know what any real person thought or felt about you. It only reads what you said and how you said it.
- UIMI is not therapy, counselling, medical advice, mental-health treatment, legal advice, or career advice. It is practice. Do not use it as a substitute for a professional.
- We do not promise any outcome. UIMI cannot promise you will get the job, pass the interview, win the argument, make the friend, or be better liked. Nobody can promise that.
If you are struggling or feel unsafe, please talk to someone you trust. In the US you can call or text 988 at any time. Outside the US, findahelpline.com lists free services near you. If you are in danger right now, call your local emergency number. UIMI is not a crisis service and cannot help in an emergency.
3. Your recordings belong to you
You own what you record and what you type. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your recording, transcribe it, analyse it, and show the result back to you. That permission ends when you delete the recording or your account.
We do not use your recordings to train AI models, and we do not share them with other users. See the Privacy Policy for who processes your data on our behalf.
Only record yourself. Do not record another person without their knowledge and permission. Recording other people may be illegal where you live, and it is your responsibility, not ours.
If you send us ideas or suggestions about UIMI, we may use them without owing you anything.
4. Fair use
Do not:
- use UIMI to harass, abuse, threaten, or impersonate anyone,
- upload someone else's voice, someone else's private information, or copyrighted material as your own,
- upload anything illegal,
- try to break, overload, scrape, or reverse engineer the service,
- try to reach another user's account, recordings, or data,
- get around the free practice limit, for example with scripts or by re-using deleted practices,
- automate or script the app to run up usage, or
- resell or redistribute the service.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things.
5. Free practice and Premium
- Free: three complete practice sessions, for the lifetime of the account. A session is counted when your first attempt is analysed. Retries of a session you already started are free, so you can finish what you began.
- If an analysis fails, the session is given back to you. You are never charged a free session for our error.
- Premium removes that limit. Prices, the billing period, and any free trial are shown on the purchase screen before you buy, and again by the App Store before you confirm. A free trial is offered only to people the App Store says are eligible for one, usually first-time subscribers.
- Reasonable use limits apply to everyone, including Premium, to protect the service from abuse. They are set well above what a person practising would reach.
6. Subscriptions, renewal and cancelling
- Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple, through your App Store account. We never see your card.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Apple charges your account within 24 hours of the period ending. A free trial becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is lost when you buy a subscription.
- You cancel through the App Store, not through us: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. We cannot cancel it for you, and we do not put anything in the way of you cancelling.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy. We will support a refund request where it is fair to do so, but the decision is Apple's.
- If we ever change the price, we will tell you before it takes effect and you can cancel.
7. Paying for someone else
A parent or guardian may pay for a student's Premium. Paying does not give the payer access to the student's recordings, transcripts, or feedback. That is deliberate, and we will not make an exception to it.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the You tab. It removes your recordings, transcripts, feedback, history and login, and it cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription: cancel that separately, with Apple, or you will keep being billed.
9. Availability
We try to keep UIMI working, but we do not promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error free. We may change or discontinue features. If we shut the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to delete or export your data.
10. Our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, UIMI is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for anything that happens as a result of you relying on AI-generated feedback. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If we are found liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for UIMI in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty US dollars.
Some places do not allow these limits. If you live somewhere that does not, they do not apply to you.
11. If something goes wrong
If you have a problem with UIMI, email support@uimi.app first and give us 30 days to try to put it right. Most things can be fixed that way, and it is faster and cheaper for everyone than a dispute. This does not stop you from bringing a claim in a small claims court, or from contacting a consumer protection or data protection regulator.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect and ask you to agree to the new version.
13. Ending this agreement
You can stop using UIMI and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if we have to for legal or safety reasons. We will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
14. Apple App Store
If you got UIMI from Apple's App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for UIMI or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If UIMI fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app, if any; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims about UIMI, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property. You must also follow Apple's own terms when you use the App Store. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo and are not on a US government list of restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country or state where you live, or your right to bring a claim there.
16. General
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your account to anyone else. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about UIMI.
